The new state–of–the–art Devenish College, an 800 pupil post primary school in Enniskillen, provides circa 11,400sqm of accommodation inclusive of a stand–alone sports facility comprising a multi–sports hall, gymnasium, fitness suite and four sports pitches, for hockey, rugby and soccer.
The project was developed through BIM Level 2, providing significant benefits to the Design Team through collaboration and coordination. The end product resulting in a federated model, which has been invaluable in generating coordinated construction information, including detailing, scheduling and general arrangement drawings for tender and construction.
In development of the model, we used Virtual Reality as a design tool and to assist in clash detection. Upon completion the model was realistically rendered to allow end users the opportunity to ‘walkthrough’ understanding the spaces within the new school that are being delivered.
‘We have been delighted to work with Isherwood + Ellis on the design and construction of our new school building, the development of the design using modelling has allowed us to see the design of the school in three dimensions, to be able to put on VR googles and walk through the various rooms, corridors and spaces within the school has been spectacular and of huge benefit to understanding our new school.’
