I+E were Architects & PM for Downpatrick DCU. This administrative HQ facility developed out of a review of the ESBU Estate which saw the rationalisation of the District’s Property & Asset Management & closure of 5 outlying facilities that had become unviable. Design & construction quality were key to ensure a high quality transformational project to challenge the public’s perception for this building type, a welcoming design integrated into its context yet achieving strict security requirements. Traditional construction methods were cleverly integrated with innovative building technologies to see this facility awarded Sustainable Ireland’s “Sustainable Building of the Year” 2016.
