Visit from Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (NI)

I+E was delighted to have a personal visit from The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (NI).

Staff were given the opportunity to meet two of the Guide Dogs and their owners.  Then the volunteers presented all that the charity offers.  

This amazing charity is almost entirely funded by donations and are the world’s largest assistance dog organisation.  As world leaders in puppy socialisation and dog training, they are the only organisation to breed and train guide dogs in the UK, dedicated to helping individuals overcome the challenges of sight loss.

Guide Dogs NI Donation

Last November, I+E partnered with O’Connell Mahon Architects to undertake a ‘Movember Step Challenge’ and raised £350 for Guide Dogs Northern Ireland.

November Step Challenge

In the month of November the I+E Team came together and embraced the winter dark nights through a ‘Movember Step Challenge’.  The Practice donated £50.00 for each participate to the following chosen charities: Guide Dogs for the Blind, MindWise and Friends of the Cancer Centre.  A total of £1,050.00 was gifted.  

This was an excellent team building event that not only show cased the Practice commitment towards supporting employees health and well being, but also showing support to these life changing charities.

 

 

Congratulations William and Jess!

The Partners & Staff at Isherwood + Ellis warmly congratulate William Brady and Jessica Scott on their recent success in their Professional Practice Exams and their onward path to registration as qualified architects.

Both William and Jess rejoined the practice in 2021 after completing their Masters degrees at Queens University Belfast.

William has been an integral part in the design and delivery of a number of refurbishment projects at St. Mary’s University College Belfast, most notably the recently completed dining hall refurbishment.

Jess has become a key member of the I+E education team, working on a number of high profile design and build projects including Mill Stand Primary School which is currently on site.

I+E Presentation to Students at Northern Regional College

I+E’s own Richard Lennox recently presented to HNC Construction and Built Environment and BTEC Level 3 Construction and The Build Environment students at NRC, Ballymena.

Richard, an associate at I+E and past pupil of the college almost 40 years ago, presented an overview of his own career path specialising in architectural technology, along with an overview of the new NRC campus being delivered in conjunction with Heron Bros. contractors. Cherith Simpson, Course coordinator on for Year 2 BTEC course and lecturer in Sustainable Construction and CAD, said it would help the students appreciate how their vocational courses can be a pathway to a wealth of fulfilling career opportunities in the construction industry.

Braidside Integrated Primary School Shortlisted for RSUA Design Awards 2023

I+E are delighted to announce Braidside Integrated Primary School has been shortlisted for the RSUA Design Awards 2023.

The awards recognize design excellence in architecture across Northern Ireland, with a particular focus on sustainable design and occupation, with buildings only considered at least one year after handover.

The building was delivered via a design and build (develop and construct) procurement route in conjunction with Knox Clayton Architects.

Winners will be announced in May 2023.

SMUC + NIAO Visit

The I+E team visited the recently completed internal refurbishment of the Northern Ireland Audit Office and St Mary’s University College Library which is currently on site.

The team were given a guided tour by I+E’s own Emma Montgomery who led the design teams in developing considered interventions into the existing buildings, securing their continued occupation and prolonging the design life of the original buildings for years to come.

The partners and staff at Isherwood + Ellis warmly congratulate Darragh Sherry on his recent success in his Professional Practice Exams and onward path to registration as a qualified architect.

Darragh joined the practice in March 2018 as a part two architectural assistant after completing his MArch at QUB. Darragh is a key member of the team delivering a number of healthcare projects including the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin and Residential Development at Leopardstown Park Hospital, along with a number of design competitions including the recent successful bid for the Western Health and Social Care Trust framework.
